Nibukikan T-shirt

On the board at the Dojo are some designs for new t-shirts for the Dojo. Sam before leaving left me/us with a heat press for doing transfers on t-shirts.   Any suggestions for design changes please direct my way. We are looking at black ink on either a red, light blue, or tan shirt.

Thanks, Dennis

Dojo Restoration Project

Detailed below are the supplies we require and the schedule for fixing the wall of the dojo along with cleaning and painting.

Supplies:

For the Wall:

Need to purchase:

6 sheets of plywood (estimated, should measure and possibly revise)

Screws

Need to borrow:

Screw guns (maybe 3-4)

For Cleaning:

Need to purchase:

Dust Masks

Sponges on sticks (everything is better on a stick)

Cloths

Need to borrow:

Steam cleaner (Dennis?)

Ladders (Skip and Zach)

For Painting:

Need to purchase:

Paint (need to determine how much)

Rollers

Brushes

Masking Tape

Drop cloths (hopefully we can borrow these)

Schedule:

Friday:

Perhaps a special class starting early

After class remove everything from walls and storage and place on ground/mat

Saturday:

Move everything from ground/mat to parking lot

Step 1:

Cleaning crew begins to clean the walls, steam the carpets and drapes, wipe down couches, pine-sol wood, and clean the storage area

Demo crew knocks out the wall

Step 2:

Painting crew begins to paint the walls

Building crew hangs the plywood

Step 3:

Once the plywood is hung and painting is finished everything must be moved back in from the parking lot

In the evening possible second coat if required

Sunday:

Touch ups if necessary

Rehang and store everything

Finish cleaning and perhaps mop the floors

Optional:

This may also be a good time to install the mirror everyone has been talking about

Rather than rehanging the old boards, we can take this opportunity to update and add other boards

What must be done before we can get to work:

We need to figure out how to procure all of the supplies we require (commit to lending, donating, or using dojo funds)

We need to set a date for this to occur

Post questions, comments, suggestions, and possible dates in the accompanying forum post. Lets make this happen!

Convention

This year’s convention was as always a great time. There was once again great instruction as well as plenty of time to connect with amazing people. Our dojo had a pretty good turnout, even three of our new white belts made the trip. For the second year in a row Joe won himself a free convention by winning his division in the National Freestyle Contest as well as having the highest score among kyu ranks. Congratulations to our new Godan Jeff Meyers, and our new Yodans Skip Maxfield and Chris Denz.

If anyone has any pictures from the event please post them or send them to me so that they may be shared with the rest of us.

Some Freestyle Video

I was able to capture a few of the rounds at Saturday’s Freestyle contest. The battery died about 2/3 through Dennis’s performance.  Check out these YouTube videos:

Chico Kodenkan Freestyle Tournament

We had a big turnout today for the Freestyle Tournament today over at the Chico Kodenkan.

Congratulations to Sean for winning the Blackbelt division and Chris for coming in 3rd.

In the Brown belt division Joe placed 2nd while Dennis placed 3rd.

Below are all the pictures off our camera which I didn’t bother to sort or edit due to laziness.

Moved to http://www.nibukikan.org/

The site has now been moved to the nibukikan domain (http://www.nibukikan.org/).

Everything should be working now, so members please sign up and begin utilizing our forums.

New Website

The new website now exists and is hidden somewhere in the interwebs. (http://www.js99.net/dojopress/) now http://www.nibukikan.org

At this point I basically copied most of the content over from the previous site with only a few minor changes. The site itself is by no means complete, and if there is anything you want added or changed please let me know. If you like, you can make your suggestions in comments here or our new forums. At this point however the best way to contact me is still in person or by phone/text but a comment or forum post beforehand would be a good way to express your idea and remind me of it until it is implemented.

Anyway, enjoy.

Zach
